Kling at a $15B Valuation: Video AI’s Moat Is Not Generation. It Is Who Pays for Usable Content.
Kuaishou’s Kling AI is raising nearly $3B at a $15B pre-money valuation. The hard question is not whether generative video is exciting. It is whether creators, brands and agencies turn model output into a durable, attributable enterprise-budget workflow.
The Discount Is About the Time to Deliver
The Information reported that Kling reached a deal for nearly $3B at a $15B pre-money valuation, with Kuaishou retaining about 68.33% after the financing. The unit had previously sought $20B on a more distant revenue projection.
That gap is not a verdict against video AI. It shows investors separating steep growth from durable cash flow. The valuation is an option on paid workflows: content that can be cleared, approved, deployed and measured.
$500M ARR Is Important. It Is Not Owner Earnings.
Kuaishou reported Q1 Kling revenue above RMB650M, up more than 300% year over year, and March ARR of about $500M. Other services revenue reached RMB5.6B, mainly on Kling growth.
Income quality depends on declining inference and storage cost, recurring versus event-driven use, and whether enterprises develop switching costs across rights, brand safety, collaboration and campaign attribution.
| Verifiable fact | Latest disclosure | The valuation question |
|---|---|---|
| March Kling ARR | About $500M | Can growth become margin and retention? |
| Pre-money valuation | $15B | What long-run margin does ~30x ARR require? |
| Creator base | 60M+ | How much free creation converts to paid enterprise use? |
| Enterprise users | 30,000+ | What are depth, renewal and concentration? |
| Kuaishou ownership | About 68.33% | How do capital needs and value flow back to the parent? |
Creator Scale Is Not the Moat
More than 60M creators and 600M generated videos create a powerful distribution and feedback starting point, not automatic pricing power. As acceptable generation commoditizes, the paid layer becomes rights-cleared assets, brand-safe review, version management, API access and measurable campaign outcomes.
Kling competes with models, internal creative workflows, agencies and platform ad tools. Winning enterprise approval and attribution is more defensible than merely winning attention. TikHub social heat is a question radar—not evidence of revenue quality.
Read the Spinout as Capital Allocation
Outside capital can fund training, inference and global sales while Kuaishou keeps control. It also leaves the parent exposed to future capital calls, dilution and execution risk.
Buffett would ask about incremental owner earnings; Fisher about repeatable expansion from creators to enterprises; Howard Marks about which disappointments are not priced into 30x ARR. Use the reverse DCF calculator and risk analysis framework to make those assumptions explicit.

Frequently asked questions
Is Kling’s $15B valuation Kuaishou’s overall valuation?
No. It is the reported pre-money valuation for Kling’s financing. Kuaishou retains about 68.33%, but capital needs, liquidity and execution create a gap between asset value and parent value.
Does $500M ARR mean Kling is profitable?
No. ARR is a revenue run rate, not gross margin, operating profit or free cash flow after inference, storage, sales, compliance and R&D.
Can social heat justify a valuation conclusion?
No. It can generate research questions; filings, contracts, costs and retention are the relevant evidence.
