Question 1

How do you know which members of Congress own a stock?

Accepted Answer

U.S. House members must file Periodic Transaction Reports (PTRs) under the STOCK Act within 45 days of a trade. We structure those official House Clerk filings and group them by ticker so you can see everyone who traded a given stock.

Question 2

Does a member appearing here mean they still hold the stock?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. PTRs disclose transactions — buys and sells — not current holdings. A member may have since sold, or bought more. Always check the trade dates and types shown.

Question 3

Should I buy a stock because Congress members own it?

Accepted Answer

No. Disclosures lag by up to 45 days and only show dollar ranges. Treat congressional trades as a research lead, then judge the company on its fundamentals, moat and valuation like any other investment.
